Days of our lives

We are each on a journey
A reality seldom remembered
Especially when we’re swamped carousing
Overdone with chasing a living, sometimes trapped
Between gratifying the present or sacrificing the future

Yet this sail is less a cruise than it is a voyage
We are on an expedition to the core of our existence
A quest for meaning and purpose
Where our greatest discovery would be ourselves
To justify the end by graceful means

Where our days demonstrate devotion
Bearing on our backs only that which matters
Allegiance and brotherhood,
Where our nights are guarded by kindred spirits
And our dawns break with the warmth of great expectations
